Buyer representation in North Carolina is usually paid by the seller. When the seller lists their home with a real estate company, they pay a commission to the company. The company takes this commission and offers a portain to other agents to bring a buyer.
There is a misconception that if a buyer does not have an agent they will be able to save money on the purchase because the seller will not have to pay two commissions. This notion is flawed because the same commission is paid by the seller whether there is a buyer's agent or not involved in the transaction.
